The Rutgers/LEAP Health & Wellness Center accepts Medicaid, Medicare and most private insurance carriers. We will research yours and/or your child’s insurance information prior to being seen. Most of the time you will pay the regular co-pay for services, just like you would at your regular doctor’s office.Who qualifies to be seen?
The Rutgers/LEAP Health & Wellness Center is exclusively for students, staff and families of the LEAP Academy and the Early Research Learning Center (ERLA).
If you already have a primary care provider whom you trust, please keep seeing them! You can simply use the Rutgers/LEAP Health & Wellness Center for acute issues when needed. For example, if your child gets an ear infection while in school. The Health & Wellness nurse practitioners can diagnose your child and prescribe antibiotics while they are in school so you don’t have to take time off from work to take them to see their primary care provider.
Yes. Your child can be referred to the Health & Wellness Center by the school nurse, as long as the child’s guardian has consented to care. Consent forms can be found on the LEAP website and social media. Consent forms are also included at the start of each school year in the annual school information packet.
You can enroll in the Health & Wellness Center services simply by completing the consent form. The consent form can be found at the LEAP website, on LEAP social media, or simply by walking into the Health & Wellness Center and asking for one.
