The LEAP Academy Board of Trustees holds the responsibility for governance, policymaking and oversight of all operational areas of the school, including curriculum, personnel and finance. It engages in macro-level issues with a focus on accountability, academic improvement, efficiency, and resource development.

Gloria Bonilla-Santiago, Ph.D
Dr. Santiago is Rutgers Board of Governors Distinguished Service Professor, where she also directs the Community Leadership Center, a service and research center dedicated to the revitalization of urban communities through education, leadership and community development. She led the efforts to establish LEAP Academy and is a staunch supporter of quality educational options for all children.
Donald A. Borden
Mr. Borden is the Camden County College's fifth president.
Mr. Borden previously served as superintendent of the Audubon Public School District in Camden County from 2006 to 2013.
Phoebe A. Haddon, J.D., LL.M.
Ms. Haddon is the Chancellor of Rutgers University–Camden, where she oversees the administration of a campus that enrolls more than 6,300 students in 39 undergraduate programs and 28 graduate programs. She is respected nationally as a constitutional scholar and a leader in higher education.
Mr. Goodwin is a Licensed Practical Nurse working for Genesis Health Care. He is the proud father of five children at LEAP and serves on the school’s Curriculum and Parent Affairs Committees.
John C. Hall.
Mr. Hall is Director of Business Development and Government Relations at ABCO Federal Credit Union and has held several executive positions in the banking industry. He chairs the school’s Finance Committee.
After a long career holding several positions at Rutgers University, Mr. Maradonna is now serving as an Adjunct Faculty member at the Rutgers-School of Business Camden and also coordinates several Study Abroad Programs to South Africa. He serves on the school’s Curriculum Committee.
Heather Matuszewski Burke
Ms. Matuszewski is Vice President of Infrastructure Support for JPMorgan Chase and holds a Master’s degree in Education. She serves on the school’s Curriculum Committee and chairs the Peter Burke Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Ms. Ortiz is a Business Specialist at the Community Leadership Center- Rutgers University-Camden, where she manages all fiscal and grant transactions. She is the proud parent of four LEAP students. She serves on the schools’ Parent Affairs and Finance Committees.

Jennifer Perkins Young
Ms. Young is Vice President for Public Affairs for Verizon New Jersey where she is responsible for the company's relationship and interaction with municipal and county governments in Southern New Jersey. She is involved in various capacities with statewide organizations and in several community and charitable ventures. She serves as Chair of the Personnel Committee of the Board.
Mr. Ransom is a student at the Rutgers Camden School of Law and involved in a number of campus and community based initiatives. After graduating from the LEAP Academy, he pursued a degree in Political Science at Howard University. He serves on the Board’s Finance Committee.
Gladys G. Novoa
United States District Court of New Jersey
Mrs. Novoa is a Deputy Clerk at the United States District Court of NJ-Camden, public services in Clerks Office and sets the courts scheduling for civil/criminal trials and other court proceedings. She is the proud parent of a LEAP student. She serves on the schools’ Parent Affairs Committee.
Mr. Samaniego is an undergraduate student at Rutgers University-Camden where he is pursuing a degree in Political Science and Pre-Law. He is a graduate of the LEAP Academy and is now returning to his Alma Mater as a Trustee of the Board.
Horacio Sosa, Ph.D.
Dr. Sosa is Vice President for Global Learning and Partnership at Rowan University where he also served in the faculty of the School of Engineering. He serves on the Board’s Curriculum Committee.
Wanda Garcia, MSW
Ms. Garcia is the Associate Director of the Community Leadership Center at Rutgers University-Camden and serves as liaison to the LEAP Academy Board of Trustees in a non-voting/non-member capacity. Her role includes staffing all Board Committees, coordinating Board meetings and providing support to the school on general programmatic and reporting functions.
