March 19| HIB Report Card is released by the New Jersey Department of Education with high marks for LEAP Academy

The New Jersey Department of Education released the HIB Report Card documenting progress of schools across the state in implementing the mandates in the Harassment, Intimidation and Anti-Bullying Law.  Civility and character education have been important elements for the LEAP Academy since its inception in 1997.   In our efforts to provide our students with quality opportunities for improving their social and leadership skills, the school’s Family Support Center has been in the forefront of providing quality experiences for students, families and staff to ensure that our children become positive and productive members of the community and that our school provides a nurturing, respectful and safe environment for our entire community.  This commitment to development of whole child guides the school’s strategy for implementing the HIB mandates in New Jersey law.

LEAP is extremely proud to have received two very special awards this year acknowledging our efforts and accomplishments to develop and implement a strong character education program.  In October of 2013, the LEAP Academy University Charter School was honored with a proclamation from the City of Camden and Mayor Dana Redd for celebrating Character Counts Week (October 20-26, 2013) and this March 2014 LEAP Academy will be honored as a Camden County School of Character.

Under the leadership of Gladys Robreno and Carmen Ubarry, the school has accomplished the following successes in its quest to combat Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying and ensure that our students participate in a comprehensive Character Education program:
